Mr. John D. Marr Jr. passed away
Monday, November 26, 2007.
Mr. Marr was a veteran of the United States Air Force, supporting missile and space launches in the Caribbean and South Atlantic in the 1960s. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University and earned a masters degree in geology from the University of New Orleans. Mr. Marr retired in 2004 as a senior geologist with 29 years with the Virginia Division of Mineral Resources.
John Marr and Roy Sites were the main instigators of the Rock Garden at the Virginia Division of Mineral Resources in Charlottesville, Virginia.
